Gluten & Dairy Free Ginger Button Cookie - perfect handmade edible gift!

Gluten & Dairy Free
GINGER BUTTON COOKIES

You Will Need:

8oz S/R Gluten Flour
4oz Dairy Free Margarine
1tsp Bicarbonate Powder
1 tsp Ground Ginger
4oz Caster Sugar
2 tbl Golden Syrup

Measure all the dry ingredients together except the sugar into a clean bowl, then rub in the margarine to form fine breadcrumbs........

...stir in the sugar and then the golden syrup which has been warmed....

Stir all the ingredient together to form a pliable dough (add more flour if needs be)

Allow to cool then roll out the dough to an even thickness on a well floured surface.
Using various glasses cut circles out and press a smaller glass to create the ridge of the button, don't forget to punch two holes in the centre of each one!

Lay on a floured baking tray and cook in a hot oven till crisp and golden.....

....once cooler choose a pretty fine ribbon to thread a handful of the cookies and secure in place by tying into a bow.

I really struggled which colour to use of Jane Means ribbon collection but ended up with this gorgeous Narrow Stitched ribbon which was 7mm perfect to go through the holes and the Sage colour was perfect.

I love the fact that this gift will have two uses, first being a unique edible gift for a friend who can only eat gluten free food and is really missing biscuits and pastries, secondly I know that she will make great use of the ribbons afterwards.

All that was left to do was to simply wrap in tissue paper and finish off with the same ribbon but in this delicious Raspberry colour!

*This blog post is for the Jane Means Ribbon Blogging Team which I belong to and the ribbons are of my own choice
